Macross The Complete

In 1992, the complete Macross CD collection was pressed. This CD box covered material from the 1982 Macross TV series to the 1984 movie and finally to the 1987 OVA Flashback 2012. It seemed to have included every song and BGM produced for Macross during that period of time. First press included a cardboard slipcase (first two images) and an extra book (last image). It was 40 pages in length, all color, and included various illustrations by Haruhiko Mikimoto, who did the character designs.



Product ID was VICL-40031~33. It was published by Victor Musical Industries and released in 3/21/1992. UPC Bar Code - 988002 250653. It was priced at Y7500. Total length of the CD was 77:19, 77:07, and 75:38




Disc 1
The first CD material was originally from two LPs that contained BGM from the TV series. Tracks 1-20 was from the first volume while tracks 21-45 made up the second volume. There were ten songs on the CD. Mari Iijima, aka Minmay, sang eight of them.

Disc 2
The second CD of the box was comprised of two types of material. The first fourteen tracks was from Macross the Movie. Tracks five and fourteen were songs sung by Mari Iijima. The remaining tracks were karaokes of all the songs that appeared on the first two CDs.

Disc 3
The third CD of the box was divided up in several sections. Tracks 1-11 were made up of the lesser known and some non-Minmay songs. The remaining tracks were BGM. Tracks 12-23 were from the TV. Tracks 24-45 seemed to have been from the 1984 movie. The only major disappointment in the CD (and all other Macross CDs) was that only the short version of Ai wa nagareru Part II was released. It seemed that Flashback 2012 video was the only way to get the full version of this song.
