Macross: Do You Remember Love? Preview Book

This book was a preview book for the Macross: Do You Remember Love? Movie. At the front of the book was a 3-panel single sided foldout a Meltran ships and several suits. The first thirty-four pages of the book were color images from Macross the Movie. It included images of characters from both sides, mecha, and the concert Minmay performed at the beginning of the film. The next section beginning on page 41 was line art of mostly the mecha from the movie. This section was done blue and white. The next few sections were in color. On page 57 began the section of photos of a young Mari Iijima, the seiyuu of Lynn Minmay. The first three pages had five photos of her in a light green and white striped dress. The next two pages had her in roller skates. Following them were four more pictures of Mari dressed in white outfit outside in the city during the night. Finally, on page sixty-four, it has a few more pictures of her and her albums avalable at the time. A few of them listed three numbers, which werefor the LP, cassette, and the CD. The final part of the color section, starting on page 65, showed various models related from the movie. Between pages 74-76, it featured more B/W line art of the various mecha used during the movie. Pages 78-81 had some more text info on Mari and the song sheet for "Ai, Ohoeteimasu ka" (Do You Remeber Love?) and "Tenshi no enogu" (Angel's Colors). Pages 82-83 list the various audio and video items released for Macross up to that time. There were eight small images of LP covers and two image covers of VHS box. In addition, there is another image for an LP that seemed to have been a Mari Iijima album. The remaining pages covered interviews, credits, and staff information.

Macross Live of Legend, Lynn Minmay

Released by Toybook, it included a 140mm figure of Lynn Minmay. The platform could be connected to the other half of the set, Mylene Jenius. Also included was a 32 page all color booklet (which unfortunately was manufactured as part of the box). Inside the book included an interview with Mari Iijima, the seiyuu of Lynn Minmay. The box cover illustration was by Haruhiko Mikimoto. On the back of the book the following was printed in English: "The concert "LIVE OF LEGEND" is the stage of LINN MINMAY, a legendary singer, and MYLENE JENIUS, member of FIRE BOMBER. This is Animation Special 5: Macross II -Lovers Again- Book

This book was from the Macross II OVA Series. The first 18 pages were color illustrations done by Haruhiko Mikimoto, who did the character designs for the original Macross as well as Macross II. The third section was black and white line art of the various characters from the series. The fourth section, Film Story, was in color. It covered cell images from each of the six OVAs. At the beginning of each episode was Mikimoto's Illustration that was featured on the cover of the respective LD. Pages 62-63 had images of the OP and ED. Pages 64-66 had more color illustrations from Mikimoto but from the original Macross series. Pages 67-74 had yet more beautiful illustrations but were in black and white. The last two sections were more black and white line art and other related info.

Miss Macross 7 Roman Album Extra

The Roman Album Extra Book measured about 7.5" x 5.25". It covered the women from Macross 7 series. The first 66 pages were in color. Most of the images were of Mylene. Also included were photographs of Tomo Sakurai, the seiyuu for Mylene. In the latter part of the book, it included line art of the various characters. The last section was Mylene A to Z. This book covered numorious illustrations done by Haruhiko Mikimoto. Except for the last 16 pages, the entire book was done in color. The illustrations spanned from his original works, Macross, Macross II, Orguss, Gunbuster, Megazone 23, Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, and to covers and originals published on various publication. Finally, there was a double sided foldout at the beginning of the book. It was an original illustration and the color tones were similar to that of the cover.

Macross Perfect Memory

There were two key books pressed for Macross. The more expensive of the two was the hard cover Macross Gold Book. It had thousands of color images from the 1984 Movie: Ai, Ohoeteimasu ka? The other book was the Macross Perfect Memory. This less expensive book covered the original Macross TV series. It was thick, beautiful, and very informative. At Y2800, you can't find a book today that was anywhere near as good as this one at that price. The Visual Story covered images from each TV episode. Each episode had anywhere twenty to fourty or more color images depending on the episode. The first section covered the first twenty-six episodes while second part covered the final ten episodes. The Outside Story, which was placed between the two color sections, was a B/W text section of what took place following episode 27 and leads you into episode 28. The next two sections were also in color. The Conbat Section (exactly spelled from the book) showed several series of images from various action sequence. It would display ten more color images from short action scene that was only took a second or two. The last series of sequence was a Minmay concert. Miss Macross was a series of pages that "advertise" the the beauty pageant (episode 9). The artwork was done by Haruhiko Mikimoto. It included poses from various female characters, including Misa, Minmay, and the "bridge bunnies." The next three (and part of the fourth one) was done in B/W. It covered line art from the respective section. The Art of Macross line art covered the various scenes and backgrounds used throughout the series. The next section started in B/W but goes to color on p. 197. The B/W portion showed various line art sketches that was use for the actual anime cell. The color portion was similar to the latter but it actually displayed both the sketch and the anime cell produced from it. The next few pages were from the Visual Story. It had still more color images from episode 11. The Making of Macross actually began on p. 203 contrary to what the book index indicated. It displayed the early character and mecha designs of the Macross Universe. Most of the early sketches of the characters were used in the series but Hikaru looked a bit different on the drawing board. On p. 229, it reverted back to B/W. It covered mostly the early mecha section drawn up. In addition, a number of the pages were text and probably related to early ideas for the series. The last two sections was mostly text. It covered interviews of the seiyuus and the various people who worked on the series. It also had a small photo of most of them. The book was originally pressed in 1983 in Japan but was repressed in 1986 for an American audience. The latter pressing had a little post card attached at the end of the book which you could have mailed to Books Nippan for translations of the book (but it never happened). Finally, depending on who, when, and where you bought the book, you were suppose to get a beautiful poster of the Macross.

There was no ISBN number or UPC bar code. It was released on 10/10/1983. It was priced at Y2800. The book was 260 pages in total length.

Macross The Complete

In 1992, the complete Macross CD collection was pressed. This CD box covered material from the 1982 Macross TV series to the 1984 movie and finally to the 1987 OVA Flashback 2012. It seemed to have included every song and BGM produced for Macross during that period of time. First press included a cardboard slipcase (first two images) and an extra book (last image). It was 40 pages in length, all color, and included various illustrations by Haruhiko Mikimoto, who did the character designs.

Disc 3
The third CD of the box was divided up in several sections. Tracks 1-11 were made up of the lesser known and some non-Minmay songs. The remaining tracks were BGM. Tracks 12-23 were from the TV. Tracks 24-45 seemed to have been from the 1984 movie. The only major disappointment in the CD (and all other Macross CDs) was that only the short version of Ai wa nagareru Part II was released. It seemed that Flashback 2012 video was the only way to get the full version of this song.

Macross Flash Back 2012 - LD

Macross: Flash Back 2012 was relased in 1987. This beautiful music video, which included clips from the TV series and the Movie, had some new animation as well "live" images. The songs included the following, in the order of played: Angel's Colors (first half); Sunset Beach; Zero-G Love; Little White Dragon; Silver Moon, Red Moon; Ai Wa Nagereru Part II (full version), Cinderalla (a capella version); Do You Remember Love?; Angel's Colors; and Runner. Except for the last song, all songs were performed by Mari Iijima, seiyuu for Lynn Minmay. Runner was a duet of Mari Iijima and Makoto Fujihara. The most interesting of them all was Ai Wa Nagereru. It was the title of episode 27, where it was originally played on. Also, it seems that no Macross audio CD has been released with the full version of this song. What made this video different from all the others was that there was some footage of World War II Japanese Soldiers scene throughout the video. While these images were used in a later video, this was the only one that used the images all throughout the entire song. The symbolism was too obvious. When images of Minmay, Hikura, Misa, Roy, and Claudia were flashed, you saw Japanese Soldiers symbolizing the "good guys." However, when you saw the Zentran or destruction, you saw American Bombers - the "bad guys." The interpretation of the video can vary but it seemed the past, as evident in flashbacks in all their anime, is very important to the Japanese - never forget the past. Parts of the new animation that was shown at the beginning and at the end were used in the end credits of later pressings of the Macross the Movie LD/DVD/Blu-Ray.

Macross II - Message From Ishtar

This promotional CD was only offered for those who bought the all the volumes of Macross II: Lovers Again Laserdiscs. The first track was 1:59 and was a narration by Hiroko Kasahara, the seiyuu for Ishtar. The second track was the song heard on the last OVA but a slightly different version.

Macross Best Hit Series - Flash Back 2012

This old and rare Macross book covered the 1987 Flashback 2012 OVA. The first 34 pages were in color. It covered most of the new animation that was featured at the beginning and ending of the OVA. Pages 35-50 were in red-monochromatic color. Most of the images were footage from the Macross TV Series and Movie that was used in the OVA. The remainder of the book was in black and white. Pages 52-60 was line art of the characters and mecha from the OVA. Pages 61-65 included interviews from the cast.



It was released on 10/15/1987. It was 66 pages total length and was priced at Y880.
